How to film & upload the perfect video CV

PREPARATION

  • Take the most relevant points from your written CV and put them in a presentable order.
  • Write down exactly what you are going to say and rehearse it well.
  • Position the camera so it is level with your head and shoulders.
  • You can use any sort of recording equipment, such as digital cameras, mobile phones & web cams.
  • Make sure that the background is neutral.
  • Record the video in a bright room, preferably during the day.
  • Ensure that any background noise is kept to a minimum.
  • Prepare yourself for the video as you would for an interview.
  • Wear smart clothes and make sure you are presentable.
  • Don't give out your age or contact details.

FILMING

  • Keep your video to less than 2 minutes.
  • Be confident and smile!

EDITING

Once you've completed your video, you can edit it using any basic video software.

UPLOADING YOUR VIDEO

You will need to register in order to upload your video CV, click here to register.

To upload your video CV, click the red 'Upload' button at the top of the page. Click 'Browse' to search for the video on your computer. Select the file and click 'Upload' - this may take some time depending on the size of the file. You can also upload a written CV to attach to your video CV (for a full list of accepted file types click here).

Fill in the candidate information, such as job title, expected salary, education and a brief description of yourself. Fill in as many fields as you can, this will make it easier for recruitment agencys to locate you amongst their other candidates and therefore improve your chances of selection. When you have finished adding information, click save and we will automatically email you your Adcaster code.

SEND OUT YOUR VIDEO

You can send your video CV either by emailing your Adcaster code to employers and recruitment agencies via your own email account, or through the Adcaster website. Click here for information on sending your video CV through the Adcaster website.
